Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe City, MI Community

If you live in or near Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and you’re looking for fun, safe, and festive ways to celebrate Halloween with your kids, you’re in luck. This year, the Grosse Pointe area is packed with creative, family-friendly events that turn Halloween from a single night of trick-or-treating into a whole season of spooks, sweets, and smiles. From haunted garages to pumpkin patches, magical shows to glitter tattoos, there’s something for every age and every level of bravery. You don’t need to drive far to find Halloween magic; it’s all happening right here in your backyard.

Spooky Fun at The War Memorial Halloween Spooktacular

Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 26, from noon to 3 p.m. at The War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms. This event is a giant, three-hour Halloween party with indoor trick-or-treating inside the historic Alger House, perfect if the weather turns chilly. Costumes aren’t just welcome; they’re encouraged for the whole family.

Expect stage shows, a harvest magic performance, live music, crafts, a petting zoo, and even a pumpkin patch on the lakeside lawn. Kids can decorate candy apples, color their own cotton candy, and get free glitter tattoos. Hungry? Grab a hot dog, pretzel, or the famous War Memorial cookies, or sip spiced cider from the cash bar while the kids play.

Best of all, the event supports a good cause, The War Memorial’s Children’s Enrichment Fund. Tickets are affordable and cover all activities, so once you’re in, the fun never stops.

Halloween in the Park: Candy, Pumpkins, and Doughnuts

Grosse Pointe Park’s “Halloween in the Park” is a favorite for younger kids. It happens Saturday, October 25, at Windmill Pointe Park. Designed especially for children 10 and under, this event turns the picnic grounds into a festive trail. Families move from station to station collecting candy and toys. At the end, each child picks a small pumpkin and a doughnut, no tricks, just treats.

Time slots are available at 3:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 4:30 p.m., so you can pick what works best for your crew. Tickets go on sale in late September, so don’t wait too long to grab yours.

Haunted Garage Productions: A Maze of Screams (and Laughs)

For families who like their Halloween with a side of goosebumps, Haunted Garage Productions returns to Grosse Pointe Farms. This walk-through haunt is voted one of Michigan’s top attractions year after year, and it opens its doors early in October. There are live actors, sensory surprises, and a maze that keeps you guessing. Big kids and adults will find plenty of scares, but little ones can join in, too, just ask for a “no-scare” glow stick at the entrance.

Remember, no running, no touching the performers, and minors need a parent or guardian. The Garage is open on weekends throughout October, with tickets available online or at the door. If you want to skip the line, VIP tickets are an option.

Tips for a Safe and Spooktacular Halloween

No matter which event you choose, a little planning goes a long way. Check online for ticket sales, time slots, and weather updates. Some events sell out fast, especially those with limited spots. Most events are outdoors or in large, airy spaces, so dress for the weather and wear comfy shoes. Bring a bag for candy and maybe an extra layer. October in Michigan can be unpredictable.

A few events have age limits or recommendations, so read the details before you go. And if your child is easily spooked, look for “no-scare” options or stick to daylight events.

Why Grosse Pointe Is the Place to Be for Halloween

Grosse Pointe knows how to do Halloween right. There are events for every age, from toddlers to teens, and plenty of ways for the whole family to get in on the fun. You’ll find creative activities, lots of treats, and a real sense of community. Plus, supporting local events helps keep these traditions alive and stronger every year.

So grab your costume, round up the kids, and get ready for a Halloween season full of laughter, candy, and memories. Whether you’re a long-time local or just visiting, these events are a great way to make the most of fall in Grosse Pointe.
