The Grosse Pointe Woods community loves the Mack Avenue Dog Park. Located conveniently on the west side of Mack Avenue, between the Robert E. Novitke Municipal Center and the Torrey Rd parking lot, this new venue promises to be a haven for dogs and their owners alike. To sweeten the deal, the city has introduced a Dog Park Pass system, available for purchase at the Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center, granting access not only to the Mack Avenue Dog Park but also to the picturesque Lake Front Park Dog Park.  Dog Park Application

Acquiring a Dog Park Pass comes with a few prerequisites designed to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all patrons. Applicants must present proof of a current GPW Dog License, up-to-date vaccinations including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, and homeowner’s liability insurance with a minimum of $100,000 coverage for any incidents caused by their pets. These measures, along with adherence to the Lake Front Park and Mack Avenue Off-Leash Dog Park Rules, highlight the community’s commitment to creating a secure and enjoyable environment for its four-legged members. Passes, priced at $50 per household, are valid through December 31 of the issuing year, kickstarting a year full of tail-wagging adventures.

Diving into the specifics, the Mack Avenue Dog Park is set to become a favorite local spot with the upcoming installation of benches, agility equipment, and water fountains for both dogs and their humans. This thoughtful layout ensures that the park will not only be a place for pets to exercise and socialize but also a community space where residents can relax and mingle. Meanwhile, the Lake Front Park Dog Park, nestled between the serene Milk River and Ford property along Jefferson Avenue, offers an idyllic backdrop for dog owners to enjoy leisurely walks with their leashed companions beyond the confines of the dog park itself.

For dogs fortunate enough to have their humans secure them a Dog Park Pass, the perks extend beyond the fenced areas of the dog parks. With pass in paw, these privileged pups can explore the scenic trails of Lake Front Park on leash, opening up a world of sniffing opportunities. Whether it’s the expansive views at the Lake Front Park Dog Park or the engaging setups at Mack Avenue Dog Park, Grosse Pointe Woods’ commitment to fostering a pet-friendly environment is evident. This initiative not only enriches the lives of our canine companions but also strengthens the sense of community among residents, making Grosse Pointe Woods an even more desirable place to call home.
