Summer in Grosse Pointe Farms is about to hit a high note as The War Memorial unveils its highly anticipated SummerFest 2025—a free lakeside series of concerts, movie nights, and cultural programming that promises something for everyone. With a scenic Lake St. Clair backdrop, this festival transforms the historic venue into a vibrant celebration of community, music, and open-air entertainment.

A Historic Venue With Modern Vibes

For more than 75 years, The War Memorial has served as a cultural, patriotic, and community hub in Grosse Pointe Farms. Known for its beautiful architecture and lakefront lawn, the venue offers a one-of-a-kind setting for summer experiences. Whether guests arrive by car, bike, or even boat, the welcoming atmosphere invites all of Metro Detroit to gather under the stars.

SummerFest 2025 Lineup Highlights

SummerFest officially kicks off on Wednesday, July 16, at 7:30 PM with a soul-stirring performance by international jazz vocalist Kimmie Horne. From there, the festival keeps the rhythm going with a blend of live concerts, outdoor movie nights, and community events.

Here’s a snapshot of what to expect:

🌟 Live Music

  • July 16Kimmie Horne brings jazz elegance to the lakeside stage.

  • July 30Devin Scillian & Arizona Son deliver heartfelt Americana tunes.

  • August 13Persuasion Band energizes the crowd with high-octane hits.

  • August 27Drey Skonie & the Klouds, in partnership with the Motown Museum, close the series with a powerful Motown-inspired finale.

🎬 Outdoor Movie Nights

  • July 23 at 7:00 PM – Enjoy the first-ever outdoor screening of “Dog Man”, the animated DreamWorks favorite for families.

  • August 20 – Get ready to sing your heart out at the “Wicked Sing-Along”, complete with on-screen lyrics.

All SummerFest events are free, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic setups. VIP seating with premium views and complimentary beverages is available starting at $40.

In case of rain, events will be moved indoors to the elegant Fred M. Alger Center Ballroom.
